
Carroll Shelby tours the Mid-America Ford & Team Shelby Nationals Car Show where MCOH members Pete & Sharon Sigwardt displayed their 1970 Bright Yellow Boss 302 as a part of the 2008 Boss Reunion. The June 11-15, 2008 Tulsa Oklahoma event featured Open Track time at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, a Sonic Cruise-In in Tulsa, Drag Racing At Tulsa Raceway Park , and the All Ford Super Car Show at the host Marriott Hotel. MCOH members Ed Hockaday and Steve Forristall were invited to display their classic Mustangs at the 2008 Classy Chassis show Sunday June 8, 2008 held at Reliant Stadium. This is an annual invitational show of over 100 concourse/thoroughbred quality classic autos and race cars that benefits the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation of the Greater Houston area. The picture above was taken as the doors opened for the show Sunday 10 AM.

MCOH May 17, 2008 Cruise Nite to Otto's BBQ at the Fountains was well attended. We had about 15 cars at Freeway Ford start and 6 additional MCOH cars when we got to Otto's for group dinner. Some attendees drove back to join us from the Car Show in Beaumont at Kinsel Ford put on by the Wild Horse Mustang Club ! Thanks to all for attending .

MCOH member TonyScharp and his son James visited the Galveston LoneStar Flight Museum during the open-house weekend April 26-27, 2008. James tried out the pilot seat of this historic bomber. Tony's Texas Highway Patrol Mustang is displayed above.

MCOH participation in the Houston AutoRama - November 2007

MCOH member Tom Patterson needed to pull his 390 CID engine from his beautiful "S-code" 1967 Mustang for a complete overhaul. So he organized a "engine pull party" for MCOH volunteers to come help extract the engine on Saturday February 7, 2009. Work started promptly at 8 a.m. and the engine was out at 11 a.m. With success by lunchtime, attendees went for lunch at Otto's BBQ. Shown above are the volunteers - left to right - Pete Sigwardt, Mike Brend, Tom Patterson, Keith Howard, Les Blankenship, Ed Hockaday, and Greg Miles. Special thanks to Keith Howard for the transport trailer, the engine hoist, and transmission jack. Fun day and no damage to Tom's beautiful Mustang !

MCOH members attended the Woodlands Car Club "Old World Venice" afternoon/evening car show on Saturday November 1, 2008 held at the Portofino Shopping Center. MCOH participants included John Grimm, Ray Coe, Robert Vitols, and Phil Thweatt. A group dinner was arranged by Rashann Fontenot at the Buca di Beppo Italian restaurant. Fun evening !

MCOH members Robert & Rita Helmer attended the Motor Met Car Show held Saturday October 4, 2008 at the Houston Metropolitan Baptist Church. Rita's 2008 Grabber Orange Mustang was a CLASS WINNER. Congrats !

Joins 45th Anniversary Party at Barber
The turnout for Indoor Cart Racing on Saturday August 16, 2008 was great ! We had 23 for a group dinner at Los Cucos after racing ! We had 12 CART RACERS all "par excellent." MCOH President Les Blankenship took home the MEN'S GOLD MEDAL FAST TIME at 24.070 seconds. Carla Blankenship got the WOMEN'S GOLD MEDAL at 26.630. FIRST TIMER GOLD MEDALS went to Robert Vitols at 25.310, and to Keith Howard at 25.377 seconds. MCOH Cruise Nite on July 19, 2008 to see our friends at Niftee 50ees made for a fun evening. 9 cars left Freeway Ford with us and by the time we counted all our member and visitor cars at the Niftee 50ees Classic Drive-in, there were over 20 cars; so we had a great turnout parked in the specially designated Mustang Corral. Dinner at "On the Border" saw about 30 attendees. Our club's appreciation was expressed to Niftee 50ees leaders Randy & Molly personally and was accompanied by cash donations from MCOH club members to help them defray expenses associated with this weekly classic cruise-in. Special thanks to Ted & Rashann Fontenot for their collaboration with Randy & Molly to have Mustang Club of Houston specially welcomed at this week's cruise-in. Also, thanks to all the MCOH members and visitors for joining us for a good time at Niftee 50ees. MCOH attendees to the Bayway Muscle Car Collection open-house express their great appreciation to owners Darryl and Linda Wischnewsky for a superb tour on Saturday September 27, 2008. We had over 20 Mustangs and 38 people attend the tour. FUN TIME !

MCOH members were invited to provide "pace cars" for a special invitation-only MONSTER TRUCK SHOW held Saturday July 26, 2008 at the Houston Motorsports Park. Eight MCOH Mustangs were able to attend. Thanks to Tracy & Ellis Stern for making the opportunity available and to Keith & Becky Howard for the pictures ! Ray & Karen Webb's 64 1/2 Mustang was awarded "Best of Show." Congrats to all that were able to attend the show.

Mustang Club of Houston was well-represented at the 28th Annual Mustang Owners Club of Austin car show on Saturday August 2, 2008 with a total of eight member cars. The show benefited the MOCA SafePlace charity. The weather was hot-hot but the turnout of great Mustangs was impressive, and MCOH attendees were able to find some nice shade trees to hang out under. MCOH attendees were awarded a total of 8 awards: 3 CLASS WINNERS, 2 CLASS AWARDS, BEST ENGINE COMPARTMENT, BEST INTERIOR, and the SAFEPLACE CHARITY CHOICE AWARD. MCOH board members attended the Wednesday August 27, 2008 Great Day Houston - Debra Duncan TV show broadcast on KHOU Channel 11 from 9AM - 10AM. President Les Blankenship and Vice President Pete Sigwardt introduced 9 MCOH Mustangs on a show about how the Ford Mustang fits into "the 50 Biggest and Best" in Houston.

A number of MCOH members took their Mustangs out Saturday October 11, 2008 for an informal group run to the Brenham Art Show and the Chappel Hill Scare Crow Festival. Later that evening we met at Niftee 50ees to hand out MCOH Car Show Flyers. It was a fun day.

SUPER SHOW ! We had a huge turnout of nearly 180 registered and display-only participants in the Spring 2009 MCOH Special Mustang 45th Anniversary All Ford Car Show held at Mac Haik Ford! We prepared the parking lot for about 125 participants on Friday evening. By Saturday at 9:30 am the lot area we had cleared and marked was full and we had to ask our hosts at Mac Haik Ford to clear more of the new car inventory off their lot to accommodate the tremendous turnout for this show. By noon cutoff of registration we had parked entries all over the Mac Haik Ford new car lot ! The entire Mac Haik Ford host team lead by General Manager Bob Zweig, General Sales Manager Greg Jones and Sales Manager Ron Roeder did a tremendous job helping us host the multi-hundreds of participants during the day. Greg Jones lead the complimentary lunch-for-all cooking team and kept the BBQ going from about 10 am on until everyone had lunch. The burgers were outstanding - complimented with fresh garnishes, chips and soft drinks and water for all. General Manager Bob Zweig cut the official Mustang 45th Anniversary cake at 1:30 pm after which it was served to our participants in time to allow us to start trophy/awards presentations at 3:30 pm. It was a great day !

MCOH member Tom Patterson completed the reinstallation of his rebuilt 390 cid engine in his 1967 Mustang on Saturday June 13th. Attending Tom Patterson's ENGINE INSTALL PARTY at Keith Howard's warehouse were MCOH INSTALL TEAM members Les Blankenship (suffered wrench bashing to his hard head), Ed Hockaday, Keith Howard, Mike Brend, Mike Young, Don & Tim Francis, Greg Miles, and Greg White. Becky Howard, Robyn Brend and Rosemary Patterson kept things on track for a record setting efficient 390 re-install ......... ENGINE RUNS SUPER ...GREAT JOB TEAM !

Mustang Club of America President Steven McCarley and MCA National Board Member Ed Hockaday presented the MCA PRESIDENT'S AWARD to the Mustang Club of Houston for outstanding achievement and devotion to the Mustang hobby and service to the community for the year of 2008 during the May 17, 2009 MCOH Monthly Meeting.

MCOH members attended the Still Creek Boys & Girls Ranch Fundraiser/informal car show and auction on Saturday May 16th near Bryan-College Station. 15 of 75 total entries in the first car show at the ranch were MCOH members. The event was very successful as a fund raiser & was the first car show held at the ranch for the boys and girls. The Trophies were hand-made by the boys in their woodshop. 2009 MCOH BLUEBONNET CRUISE TO BRENHAM TEXAS
Thanks to all who had a chance to join for for our fun March 22 Bluebonnet Cruise to Brenham Texas. We had over 90 attendees (plus two dogs) in 45 Mustangs and 3 other vehicles ! We enjoyed the picnic lunch together at Fireman's Park with time to visit and introduce everyone. Special thanks to our MCOH members Johnnie & Marilyn Schroeder who reserved the park for us and provided attendees with BLUEBELL ICE CREAM for dessert. Also, thanks to Tom Mallette for doing a super job leading the cruise in his vintage 1989 Texas DPS Special Service Mustang. Also, thanks to Rashann Fontenot for the pop-quiz on Mustangs/MCOH members trivia. More pictures will be posted ( CLICK HERE).

MCOH Attends Coffee & Cars - March 7, 2009

Our sincere Thanks go to STRICTLY PERFORMANCE - 8127 Easthaven, Houston, TX 77034 (713) 910-0111. We got 17 cars on their DynoJet Chassis Dyno ranging from 1965 Mustangs to 2007 late models . We had 1st generation Mustangs, Fox bodies, late models, a Shelby GT, and even a 68 Mustang Cobra Jet big block. We ran from about 9 a.m. until about 3 p.m. The overall Rear Wheel Horsepower range of the 17 participants was 147 hp to 448 hp. The winner of the hp/torque guessing game pool was William Cesak.

Ed Hockaday is on the MCA National Board of Directors.

On Saturday April 12, 2008 we had 15 cars join us for the cruise from Freeway Ford to Kemah. We had a group dinner for 25+ participants at Sudies Seafood on the way to the Space City Cruisers informal Saturday Night car show. When we got there we had 4 more MCOH members there with their cars on display. It was a cool, beautiful evening to be out cruisin' and visiting with our participants in their Mustangs, Falcons, Roush's, Shelby's, and one HEMI....

September 15, 2007 MCOH Cruise Nite was great ! We had 30 cars and 59 members and guests attend. Beautiful Nite to be out together and enjoy the "MCOH Mustangs to Kemah" drive.

The April 6, 2008 MCOH Bluebonnet Cruise started in Houston with 22 cars. By the time we got to the Park in Brenham for our picnic lunch we had 25 cars and 50+ participants. We saw the Bluebonnets around Chappell Hill and Brenham, had lunch together in Brenham, and enjoyed the day driving and visiting with all the participants. Thanks to all for a fun outing ! Special thanks to our MCOH member Johnnie Schroeder and his family who live in Brenham for the Park reservations and the Bluebell Ice Cream for all, and the special invite over to their home to check out their super collection of Mustangs and Fords. Also, Rashann Fontenot's Mustang trivia quiz after lunch with candy treats as prizes was neat! Thanks also to Tom Mallette for doing the usual excellent DPS Mustang "leader of the pack" duties and coordinating with Johnnie Schroeder to set up our visit to Brenham.

MCOH members Tracy & Ellis Stern and Matt Bleakley attended the 10th Annual Summer Jam car show held June 1, 2008 at the American Legion Park in Rosenberg. Ellis and Tracy displayed their "Digy-Lo and Digy-La" Mustang GT's. Matt showed his "09 Special" Shelby GT. Tracy & Ellis Stern were awarded the "Best of Show" trophy for the Mustang GT's and their display.

Holly Clark organized the 4th Annual Phil Clark Stampede Car Show held in Hillsboro, Texas on July 5, 2008. MCOH members Pete & Sharon Sigwardt attended the show where Holly proudly displays design artwork from her late Dad's portfolio. MCOH cruise to Brenham on June 28, 2008 was fun. Thanks to all who had a chance to join us for the run. We appreciate MCOH member Johnnie Schroeder who lives in Brenham for inviting our participation and reserving parking for us at the downtown festival. Dinner at the Longhorn grill, bands played live music, and lots of great cars to see and attendees to mix and mingle with. Tom Mallette did his usual super job coordinating with Johnnie and leading the highway cruise with his Special Service Texas Highway Patrol 89 Mustang. Cruise Nite to Niftee 50ees - March 17, 2007

MCOH Members Ellis and Tracy Stern show their "inverse twin" Mustang GT's at the 30th Annual Spring Fling Car Show April 13, 2008 in Rosenberg. Great display guys!

MCOH member Roman Collins held the Joe P. Collins Memorial Car Show on May 3, 2008 in Lufkin in memory of his father. Proceeds from the show went to the Hospice in the Pines. The event was well attended and MCOH members Tom Mallette and Pete & Sharon Sigwardt participated. Tom Mallete's Special Service 1989 Mustang took a Class Winner Trophy. Pete & Sharon Sigwardt's 2005 Mustang GT received a Class Award.

February 16, 2008 bad weather outside didn't slow MCOH members down at Track 21 Indoor Cart Racing. We had 17 attendees ( 12 racers). Les Blankenship recorded best time of the night at 23.988 seconds*.

Niftee 50ees Cruise Nite turnout on Saturday March 15, 2008 was great. We had 25 cars and about 60 attendees.
